Satin or Gloss Finish

When it comes to using one of our 4 different paint lines, people rarely consider the finish as being that important. Choosing the right sheen for your painted furniture, cabinets, or DIY project is essential. Think about it before starting your project. Typically, the higher the gloss, the better the POP you will get. The higher the sheen, the more reflective value you will obtain. The higher gloss is ideal for darker chalk paint colors as well as highlighting a particular feature in your room.

Another great choice for a higher gloss finish is its ease of cleaning. Gloss finishes are usually very durable as well as super easy to clean once cured. Two of our most popular finishes are Gator Hide and Terra Tuff. These have a higher sheen and are our most durable and best paint sealers for furniture and cabinets.

Satin finishes are great for concealing flaws. Additionally, they have a velvety feel when touched. The satin finish is an excellent choice for a few reasons.

It is better at hiding flaws than flat finishes. Additionally, it can brighten a room. The satin finish does have a water-resistant characteristic that is preferable to high-traffic areas.

If you want a smooth paint finish, our Blue Sponge or Foam and Dandy brushes are great options. Satin is the best choice for furniture or kitchen cabinets. When sealing paint for outdoor furniture, a paint spray gun can be used to apply Gator Hide. This is our toughest clear coat finish.

Choose a finish for your project. If you are unhappy with the result, you can sand it back and apply a different sheen. After all, it is just paint and a clear coat. There really isn’t a wrong way, it's just your way that is right.
