How To Use Silk Paint

Pristine Clean

Ready and refresh your projects for Silk Paint with Pristine Clean! This quality cleaner will de-grease and remove all debris from the surface of your piece.

Use Pristine Clean to prep your furniture or cabinets to ensure your seaside masterpiece will be a success!  

  • Directions

    Step 1: We recommend wearing gloves. Mix 2 tablespoons of Pristine Clean with 1 gallon of hot water.

    Step 2: Dip a lint-free cloth in the mixture and squeeze excess from cloth. Wipe down your entire piece.

    Step 3: With a new cloth and clean water, wipe down again to remove residue.

    Step 4: Allow piece to dry.

    Recommended Products: Silk All-in-One Mineral Paint, Bag O' Rags.

How to Use Silk Paint

Clean your piece, preferably with Dixie Belle Pristine Clean, to remove dust and grime. Scuff Sand and if surface is slippery we recommend 2 coats of Bonding BOSS. Then paint with your favorite Dixie Belle Silk All-In-One MineralPaint color. Protect your piece with Extra Coat!

  • Directions

    Step 1: Degloss with a light scruff sanding.

    Step 2: Clean with Pristine Clean and rinse with clean water.

    Step 3: Apply Silk All-in-One Mineral Paint with dry DBP Synthetic Brush.

    Step 4: Allow piece to dry for 4 hours before applying second coat.

    Paint Sprayer: Use 1 oz. Floetrol per 16 oz. Silk All-in-One Mineral Paint.

    Recommended Products: Pristine Clean, Sanding Sponge, Synthetic Brush, Extra Coat, Scrubby Soap.

    1st coat- 4 hours, Second coat- 24 Hours.

    21-30 Days.

Extra Coat

Wanting to add additional protection to your coastal creations? Extra Coat is a water repellent clear coat with a dreamy, satin finish.

Utilize this water-based polyacrylic for high traffic areas on your Silk Paint projects!

  • Directions

    Step 1: Allow Silk Mineral paint to dry completely.

    Step 2: Stir Extra Coat before use.

    Step 3: Apply 1 coat of Extra Coat and let it dry completely.

    Step 4: Apply another coat after 2 hours.

    Note: You can add a total of 3 coats.
